Milam County Historical Museum Dedicates Peace Officer's Plaza Some 75 people attended Thursday's dedication of the Peace Officer's Plaza, located on the lawn of the Milam County Museum. The Program and dedication was held to honor past, present and future Law Enforcement Officers of Milam County. Harrison Lanham, President of the Milam County Museum Board said the Plaza honors all peace officers of Milam County, especially the Sheriffs, both past and future. (Lanham statement) Special guest at Thursday's dedication was Steve Westbrook, Executive Director of the Sheriff's Association of the State of Texas. (Westbrook statement) Funds to Construct the Plaza were donated by the Historical Commission from funds contributed to the restoration of a log cabin in the rear of the Museum. Milam County Sheriff Charlie West said Pat Broadus, widow of the Late Sheriff Leroy Braodus, initiated the idea. (West statement) In addition to Westbrook and Sherrif Charlie West, those attending included the family of the late Leroy Braodus, District Attorney Hollis Lewis, Robertson County Sheriff Gerald Yezak, Falls County Sheriff John Trousdale, Milam County Commissioners Dale Jaecks and Troy Mode, Judge Bill Black (son of the late Sheriff Carl Black), Police Chiefs Leonard Doskicil from Cameron and Tim Smith from Rockdale, and Cameron Mayor James Lafferty.
