(CAMERON)  Citizens's National Bank of Milam County kicked off a year of festivities Thursday,  July 1st, to celebrate their 100th year of service to Cameron, Rockdale and the many communities in and around Milam County.

The bank was honored with several guest speakers, and treated customers and friends with refreshments.

The year will include "An Old Fashioned Christmas" open house, Friday, December 24th in the bank's lobbies in Cameron and Rockdale.  The banks will be decorated with a 1900 theme and all employees will dress in 1900 era clothes.

In March 2000, the Bank will open the cornerstone of it's building in Cameron, which was built in 1929.  Inside is a time capsule with items such as pictures, newspapers, and etc... from throughout the county, which were placed in the capsule in 1929.  Items will be collected from throughout the community to be placed in a new time capsule which will be sealed in the Bank cornerstone until 2100.

The year of activities will culminate with a county-wide picnic to be held in downtown Cameron on Saturday, July 1, 2000.

Citizens National Bank opened it's doors in July, 1900 in temporary quarters in the old courthouseannex with modest first week deposits of $4,591.19.  In 1901 the bank was relocated to the same corner that the bank still calls home today.

Today deposits presently total $97,811,444.00
