(CAMERON) There are new updates from the Milam County Tax Office amid virus concerns.
Tax Assessor Sherry Mueck said both locations of the Tax Office remain closed until further notice. A skeleton crew will be on hand Tuesdays and Thursdays in Cameron from 9AM-1PM in order to answer phone calls and process mail. As a reminder, vehicle registrations and title transfers remain waived for 60 days from the end of Governor Greg Abbott`s executive orders.
As of April 28th, anyone that NEEDS a title transfer must call the tax office to set up an appointment. Appointments will then be set up on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays. All transactions will be processed through the side window and no one will be allowed in the lobby. Instructions will be given when you schedule your appointment.
If you MUST register your vehicle, you should do so online at txdmv.gov. You can also place registrations in the Cameron drop box or mail in payments with your renewal notice, inspection receipt, current insurance, and driver license. You must also include your current address and phone number. For taxes, place payments in the mail or the Cameron drop box. You can also pay online at milamcounty.net or milamad.org. No cash payments will be taken. All payments must include your name, address, and phone number. Make checks payable to Milam County Tax Office or MCTO. The mailing address is Box 551 in Cameron.
