(BARTLETT) A former 2-term mayor and firefighter has died.
The City of Bartlett and Bartlett Volunteer Fire Department confirmed the death of former mayor and firefighter James Grant. Services are 3PM Tuesday at Bartlett City Hall. The 60-year-old Grant, who died January 1st at his home, was diagnosed in August of last year with an aggressive brain cancer. He had previously served 2 non-consecutive terms as Mayor and was a longtime member of Bartlett VFD, including serving as their secretary for many years. Grant was born in California and graduated from Round Rock High School before furthering his education at TSTI. He began working at NASA and later enlisted in the US Air Force until retiring as an E6. He is survived by his wife, children, sister, and 2 grandchildren. Young`s Daughters Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of arrangements.
