PRIMARY RUNOFF ELECTION 2022-05-23

(CAMERON) Voters head to the polls Tuesday to finalize their November ballot choices. 

Election Day in the Republican and Democratic Party Primary Runoff Elections will be Tuesday from 7AM-7PM. Early voting ended last week with nearly 1,200 ballots cast, the vast majority on the GOP side. Thursday was the biggest day with 270 GOP votes cast. Voters will have to cast their ballot in the same party primary they voted in prior to the runoff.  Election Day voting will be at the Milam County Courthouse, Buckholts Community Center, the Rockdale Hospital, and Thorndale Veterans Memorial Hall. Milam GOP voters will choose their District 17 State Representative for the November ballot between Stan Gerdes and Paul Pape. They will also decide their Precinct 2 Commissioner between Doug Baker and James Denman. 

Statewide races on the Republican runoff ballot include incumbent Attorney General Ken Paxton facing off against former Land Commissioner George P. Bush; Tim Westley and Dawn Buckingham for commissioner of the General Land Office; and incumbent Railroad Commissioner Wayne Christian versus Sarah Stogner. Statewide races on the Democratic runoff ballot include Michelle Beckley and Mike Collier for lieutenant governor; Rochelle Mercedes Garza and Joe Jaworski for attorney general; Janet Dudding and Angel Luis Vega for comptroller of public accounts; and Sandragrace Martinez and Jay Kleberg for commissioner of the General Land Office. Bell County voters have a key race in State Senate District 24 where Raul Reyes faces off against Pete Flores.
