18 WHEELER CRASHES AND BURNS2010-07-28

(TEMPLE)  Traffic was diverted early today following a fiery collision along Texas 36 in Bell County that had traffic at a standstill.

Units from Temple Police, Temple Fire and Rescue and the Bell County Sheriff’s Office responded around 4 a.m. to the report of an 18-wheeler crash near the intersection of Texas 36 and Southeast H.K. Dodgen Loop.

Reports indicate the 18-wheeler caught fire after it struck some type of barrier.  It was not clear if the driver was injured or if any other vehicles were involved in the collision.

Texas Department of Transportation and a HAZMAT response team were also called to the scene.
