LUMINANT DISPUTE OVER APPRAISAL

(MILAM CO) As the budget cycle nears its end and appraisal values are in, Luminant Energy is once again disputing the value of their operations.

The Milam Appraisal District has estimated Luminant`s holdings at over $500 million, though the company was expected to see a drop in their valuation by $4.6 million. Luminant has disputed their appraised value each of the past 4 years.

Brad Watson, spokesman for Luminant, said the company has already filed its appeal for their most recent appraisal, though an upcoming hearing on that appeal has been canceled. Watson said officials with the company and the county appraiser have been nearing a deal to avoid such a hearing.

Luminant settled their 2013 tax bill earlier this year, adding nearly $4 million to the county tax rolls. County Judge Dave Barkemeyer said Luminant provides nearly 40% of the county property taxes as it is the largest employer in Milam County.
