(CAMERON) The Yoe baseball team swept aside a district champion in the regional quarterfinals on Saturday.

Cameron opened their best-of-3 series with Lorena on Thursday, outlasting the Leopards thanks to a 7-run 7th inning to win 12-5. The Yoemen returned Saturday at Lake Belton and jumped out in front to put away the Leopards early and coast to a 9-3 victory to sweep Lorena out of the playoffs. Landen Greene was solid on the hill, tossing a complete game with 7 hits allowed, a pair of walks, and 3 strikeouts. The Yoe bats plated 3 runs in the 1st and 3 in the 3rd before adding insurance in the 4th and 5th. The bottom 3rd of the order with Bobby Borgas, Jaidyn Sanchez, and Armando Reyes combined for 10 RBI during the 2-game series. Ryan Host had 3 hits during the Game 2 victory and also scored 3 times. Cameron advances to the regional finals to meet #7 Diboll, who outlasted #13 Woodville in 3 games. Time and place for that best-of-3 series are to be determined.
