TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN DRUG BUST2010-07-28

(MILANO) A traffic stop Tuesday by Milam County Deputy Lee Dixon led to the discovery of drugs and cash. 

Dixon stopped a vehicle for speeding on US Hwy 79 in Milano just after 9 a.m. Tuesday.  During the stop, the Deputy detected the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle.

During a consent search of the driver and the vehicle, Deputy Dixon discovered 3 "blunt" marijuana cigars, a small baggie containing loose marijuana, and $2,997 in cash.

A further search garnered 62 grams of suspected powdered cocaine.

Kevin Gary Barnes, Jr., 24 of Abilene, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1-4 Grams, and Possession of Marijuana Less than 2 ounces.

Barnes was held overnight on bonds totaling $45,000.
