Thomas Ray Sheguit

(CAMERON)    Thomas Ray Sheguit passed away March 27, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, loyalty, and patriotism.

 

Thomas was born on November 12, 1929, in Cameron, Texas. Thomas left high school early to proudly serve in the United States Army during WWII. Upon returning to Texas, he met and married his beloved wife Marritta Richter on December 26, 1953. Thomas worked at Alcoa for 39 years. His passions were working on the family land, at the church, and raising his boys. He was a member of Saint Monica Catholic Church and volunteered as a proud member of the VFW, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and many committees at the church. He also volunteered as a youth baseball coach.

 

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents William and Frances Sheguit, brother Paul Sheguit, and sister Agnes Sheguit Burke. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marritta Richter Sheguit. Survivors also include sons Pat and wife Janet Sheguit, Mark and wife Shiera Sheguit, and Ken and wife Sharon Sheguit. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Brad (Jessica), Brian (Lindsey), Brett (Deb), Joseph (Ashlea), Luke and Rachel and 4 great-grandchildren, Glory, Elle, Wyatt, and Presley. Also surviving is his brother-in-law, Adrian Richter as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation will be at 6 pm on Thursday, April 3 at Marek-Burns-Laywell funeral home in Cameron, Texas, with a rosary to follow at 7 pm. Funeral Mass with military honors will be at 11 am on Friday, April 4 at St. Monica’s in Cameron with a graveside service immediately after.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Monica’s Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
