ROCKDALE HS BOMB HOAX
(CAMERON) Authorities continue to investigate what turned out to be a bomb hoax this morning.
The Milam County Sheriff’s Office responded just after 7:20AM today, April 1st, following a phone
call to Rockdale Police Department regarding a bomb threat to Rockdale High School. Out of an
abundance of caution, Rockdale Independent School District administrators had students and
staff sent to an alternate location. Deputies then conducted a thorough search of the entire
campus using bomb sniffing dogs. That search turned up nothing and it was deemed there was no
credible threat to students or staff. Texas Department of Public Safety began a trace of the number
used by the caller, which was found to not be in the area. The scene was cleared in about 2 hours
and students were allowed to return to campus. Sheriff Mike Clore reminds the public that though
this is April Fools’ Day, this type of threat or hoax is a felony. Deputies and our state and federal
partners will continue to investigate and locate the person behind this hoax. Also responding and
assisting at the scene were Rockdale Police, DPS, and Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department.
