Milam Fatal crash Milam County    Texas DPS responded to a report of a major crash with fatality.

DPS Sgt Bryan Washko said it happened Friday night about 10;40 p.m. on US Highway 190 east of Milam County Road 241b north of Milano.

Sgt Washko said a Chevrolet Malibu driven by 37 year old Jorge Ivan Betancourt-Sanchez of Bryan was traveling east on US Highway 190 when he attempted to pass another vehicle and collided with a red Toyota Camry that was going west.   The Toyota was operated by a 51-year-old female from Killeen and was transported by Milam County EMS to Baylor Scott and White in Temple with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu was deceased on scene.  The crash investigation is still active and open. Next of kin have been notified. (ROGERS) — Rogers Independent School District voters will decide a $31.72 million bond issue in the Saturday May 3 election.

 

 

(ACADEMY)   Academy Independent School District will have a new director of special programs when the 2025-26 school year begins.

The district announced that Cindy Allman, who currently serves as the director of special education at Waco ISD, will take on the role after Sara Sanders announced her retirement this year. Sanders has served as the director of special programs at Academy ISD for the last four years and has been with the district since 2003.

“I am happy to join the Academy ISD family,” Allman said in a statement. “It is an honor to be part of a community that’s dedicated to making a difference in students’ lives. I look forward to working together and building strong, collaborative relationships to support success for our students.”
