(CAMERON) The Yoe High School Tennis Team competed in the district tournament over the past week in Thrall.
(CAMERON) Cameron School Superintendent Kevin Sprinkles discussed the accountability ratings this morning and how they do not reflect the current schools performance. There were motions and investing time, energy and resources spent into the in the lawsuit which has delayed more current ratings.
After a nearly two year delay, school districts across Texas finally learned how their schools performed in the 2022-23 school year through the Texas Education Agency’s accountability ratings.
The ratings were blocked from going public by a lawsuit from teachers who said the Texas Education Agency left them out of the loop when changing the grading system during the school year, leaving many districts unprepared.
School districts across Central Texas have seen points taken off as the system changed and not judged properly on purpose, organization, details, voice, and mechanics. “Overall, these ratings are two years old and do not reflect the current state of student learning in our school district.
Since 2023, we have seen the number of students achieving college, career, and military readiness at our high school, aligned our instruction to meet the demands of the new assessments, and followed the trends in the testing and performance. “We remain committed to the areas of improvement and support student achievement and urge parents to look beyond the grade to see the hard work their students put in.
The Texas Education Agency’s they are prevented from sharing more recent school ratings from the 2023-24 school year due to a separate, ongoing lawsuit. School performance ratings from the 2024-25 school year are scheduled to be issued in August 2025.
