(CAMERON) The deadline to apply for a new grant program established to help draw businesses and investors to Cameron is nearing.

Cameron Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Ginger Watkins said the deadline to apply for the Facade Grant program is July 16th. All interested businesses and investors interested in applying must have their applications in by that date. In April, the CEDC, in combination with the City of Cameron and Cameron Chamber of Commerce, launched the grant program for buildings within the business and commercial districts in the city. The program would help reimburse up to 50% of costs for certain improvements to buildings in the business and commercial districts. These improvements could include store signage, lighting, awnings, windows, fronts, entries, planters, and more. All awarded funds will be pending completion and inspection of projects. The aim of the program is to increase interest in the re-use of existing buildings and so help recruit new businesses and services to Cameron.
